Can My Roof Be Repaired, Or Do I Need Roof Replacement? NJ’s Roof Contractors Share Tips!

Your NJ roof is what stands between you and the vicious NJ weather elements! But when your roof starts to show signs of age and wear, you may be left facing a heavy bill. Does your roof need to be replaced, or can you get by with roof repairs from a great roofing contractor in NJ? Keep reading to find out!

Repair: Acute damage from storms

If you’ve installed a new roof in NJ recently and had it damaged by a storm, you’re better off calling a skilled roofing contractor to do some repairs. Usually, the damage done by wind or hail is tearing and denting the shingles, but leaving the underlying structures sound. Make sure to have these repairs completed in a timely manner, as waiting too long can let water under your shingles and cause the need for even more repairs! Major damage, such as that which tears off entire sections of roofing, should always be evaluated on a case-by-case basis to ensure that the home is safely restored.

Replace: Overall aging

Is your roof a teenager? Most roofs and shingles are rated anywhere from 10 years on up. If your roof looks dingy, old, and is starting to leak through many areas of your home, it’s time to replace it! Once you have a very old roof, you are going to run into additional problems, such as difficulty sourcing matching shingles, and the risk of the underlay and other materials needing replacement. Old roofs are in need of repair!

Repair: Curled shingles in just one area

Do the shingles on one side of your roof curl? This can be a sign of damage or poor construction—but fortunately, this is an issue that can usually be repaired! Whether your shingles did not get put on properly, or if another element of your home is causing early wear and tear, a skilled building and roofing contractor can help you to identify the issue. Unusual exposure to weather, poor drainage, and settling foundations can loosen your roof, but a roofer can get it back on properly.

Replace: Green mold

Have you ever seen a home with green shingles? Most stores don’t sell them, and most people don’t install them—green roofs are most often filled with green mold! If your home gets plenty of rain, but not much sunlight, your roof and shingles may turn green. In the short-term, replacing these is a must to keep that mold out of your house! On a longer-term basis, you should certainly contact your local residential roofing contractor to figure out the problem and keep your roof from turning green again in the future.

Whether your commercial or residential roof needs repair or replacement, make sure to work with the experts in roofing repair for your next project. Your trusted construction and roofing team in NJ will advise you on the best plan for your roof to keep your home safe and dry for years to come.
